Thankyou for an excellent product. And just as a side remark; she tends to have dementia and becomes confused and sometimes very lonesome for my Dad; my sister now plays "her music" everyday and it seems to have relaxed Mom and makes her very happy.music therapy. This was a Christmas gift for my sister and her husband who have taken my Mom in to live with them; we were all fans of Henry Mancini as kids and when I took the stereo out of the box and started a Mancini disc for Mom she started smiling and crying at the same time for the wonderful memories it brought back to her. Amazing and wonderful service. An incredible system for the cost-- and the sound quality is awesome for the compact size. Could not believe it when the first disc started playing; wish I had that before I spent the money on the Bose system a few years ago. Also I must commend Amazon.com for the unheard of customer service; I ordered this stereo on a Thursday morning and it had arrived the following day when I got home from work.
Although I do wish there was a better equalizer than the presets, but I'm splitting hairs. I use this in my classroom and am able to blast the music loud enough to be heard throughout the school. Overall, I am very happy with this system.
So again KUDOS TO SONY AND YOU FOR A GREAT PRODUCT. The clarity of the music was great and it sounded like a symphony hall. I put it in my kitchen and my husband hooked up the speakers and it was wonderful. In this case we did not get what we paid for. Well, we brought a system by Bose and spent a lot of money and was disappointed. Anyway, we sent it back and brought this system by Sony and it was just great. This is what BOSE was suppose to do.
In the front there is a 1/8th inch (3.5mm) audio jack that you can plug your mp3 into. I also am a musician and I do my recording on my laptop. Here's the best part. You may not has a use for it yet, but they are cheap, and when you start finding ways to use it, you'll be glad you already have one.
I also use the same audio input with my laptop and I can listen to music from youtube or any online radio I want. The remote is easy to use and the stereo itself is very user friendly. So, this stereo also serves as my studio monitor speakers. You can hear the trays trundle back and forth. Sony delivers awesome sound and a low price. It's small, but has a lot of power. Not a big deal, really, because that has nothing to do with the awesome sound you get from this amazing stereo. I got a 6ft audio cable for this ( because it doesn't come with one ) and all I do now is play my music from my mp3, rather than using CDs.
I've even plugged it into my LCD tv's headphone jack, and can now get amazing stereo sound while watching my favorite DVDs.My recommendation is to purchase a good, and long, 3.5mm audio cable when you get this stereo. This stereo is the best I've ever had. If I had to find something wrong with it, it would only be that the CD changer is a little noisy when it's swapping discs. Just turn the mp3's volume up all the way and control the sound from the main volume on the stereo.
Everything was okay until this morning when it turned itself off and the Standby light started to flash. I did this, but it didn't solve the problem.
I'm thinking I won't be buying another Sony product for awhile. He said there was no solution and gave me a link to a repair site.
I contacted Sony support and "chatted" with a tech support person. Since this is more than the cost of a new unit, I've written it off.
I purchased this unit a little more than a year ago. I followed the instructions in the manual, which said to power the unit off, then turn on again.
I got an estimate of $130 to have the unit repaired.
